At the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars), The Girl Who Cried Pearls, directed by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski and winner of the AniB Prize at the 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025), won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.

Meanwhile, Little Amélie, the Grand Prize winner of BIAF2025, was nominated for Best Animated Feature. Although it did not take home the award, the nomination underscored its artistic excellence and strong global competitiveness.

BIAF2026, the 28th edition of the festival and an Academy Award–qualifying event, will be held over five days from October 23 (Fri) to October 27 (Tue), 2026.
