Ani+Fun = Animation + Fun

The theme of BIAF2017, ‘Ani+Fun’, is a compound word of ’animation’ and ‘fun’, which emphasizes how much fun and excitement could come from with animation. The event consists of 10 exhibitions across 4 categories held at various venues including Korea Manhwa Museum, Arisol Gallery, Bucheon City Hall Station, and Bucheon City Council. Each exhibition will showcase works from Korean animation directors currently working on films, professors teaching students on campus, and students either working toward a goal or just exploring their interest in animation.

Ani-Master Exhibition

The exhibition which delivers the stories of both directors, Ahn Jae-huun and Lee Sung-gang who represent Korea for feature film animation, and Galaxy Express 999 of the director, Leiji Matsumoto were planned in the section of Ani-Master exhibition.

Director’s Salon: Invite and Chat

The space you live in reflects your life. That space becomes your story. It delivers messages without any words and deeply remains in your memory. Therefore, when you are curious about someone, you want to sneak a look at their space. This exhibition is an opportunity to openly fulfill your curiosity. It is simple yet plausible, and delivers the director’s idea of ‘fun’ and ‘space.’ How would the director who created so many animation scenes create his living room (salon) where he shares his story? How did the director present fun and with what purpose? We invite you to the director’s salon – the space of two of Korea’s top animation directors AHN Jae-huun and LEE Sung-gang.

Commemoration of the 40th Anniversary – Matsumoto Leiji’s Galaxy Express 999 Exhibition

is a story about Human Tetsuro and Maetel who resembles his dead mother going on a journey in a space train set in the year 2221. Matsumoto Leiji’s has been the middle-aged class favorite when they were in their teens. This exhibition will be a great opportunity to discuss the beautiful memories of all generations and the humanity of the present age.

Ani-Fair Exhibition

The direction of animation and future industry in the era of the 4th industrial revolution can be looked into the University Hall, Enterprise Hall and Youth Hall.

University Hall

It is constituted for viewing the blueprint of direction and base extension of animation as a science. It introduces the education direction and characteristics of each university. It is a participating type exhibition which suggests the extendibility of animation in culture industry.

Job Landing Exhibition (Enterprise Hall)

It is to introduce the contents of enterprises and activate the job landing market by 1:1 matching between the staff of personnel and job seeker. It is purposed to create the job positions.

VR experience zone

It is to provide the various contents of eye catching and environment of experience to the general spectators in use of the VR contents which represent the 4th industry and to vitalize the festival.

Youth Hall

It is an exhibition to meet the university students’ portfolio in full of the challenge and experimental mind which are the symbol of the young via BIAF job finding support program.

Ani-Special Exhibition

A blend of animation and various arts. Visitors have a chance explore various works from Korea and abroad created by professionals working in the field of animation.

Animator & Cartoonist International Invitational Exhibition

This exhibit focuses on integrated works of animation, which have spread to pure fine arts such as painting, sculpture, video installation and works by artists who are educators, directors, or independent artists in various fields including manhwa, animation, and illustrations.

Ani-Little Exhibition

The exhibition will showcase the work of students who will design the future of animation through the award winners of the 17th BIAF National Student’s Cartoon & Animation Competition/ The 18th National Student Manhwa Open-Call Contest, a pretty playful Ani and Ggum-eem Art.

A pretty playful Ani Exhibition

It is an exhibition of education program to foster the people of enjoying the culture and arts and future animation directors through animation for the children and teenagers in Bucheon City in cooperation with Bucheon International Animation Festival, Bucheon Media Center, Welfare Cooperative in Wonjong 2 - dong and Children Center of Global Village.

Ggum-eem Art Exhibition

It is an exhibition of STEAM Education Program which combines the cultural welfare realization, literature and arts for the teenagers of Gyeonggi Province through animation in cooperation with Bucheon International Animation Festival and Gyeonggido Office of Education.
