Director Lee Sunggang won the BIAF Honorary Award at 24th Bucheon International Animation Festival 2022(BIAF2022). The BIAF Honorary Award is given to those who have made achievements in the development of the animation genre and establishment of artistry.
 
Director Lee Sunggang steadily has directed lots of short films including <Soul>, <Ashes in the thicket>, <O-Nu-Ri>, <A Monster in the Reservoir>, <Aksim>, starting his career as a short film director in 1995. <Ashes in the thicket> drew worldwide attention, as it was selected at Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 1999.
 
Building his career in a short film director, Lee Sunggang directed the first feature film <My Beautiful Girl, Mari>, winning the grand prize ‘Crystal’ in the feature film category at 26th Annecy International Animated Film Festival. . Afterward, he won the Presidential prize for <Yobi, The Five Tailed Fox> in Comic-Animation-Character grand prize in 2007. Furthermore, he was invited at Annecy International Animated Film Festival with <Kai> he directed in 2016.  His the first fullscreen X-feature film <Princess Aya>, which was released on last September 21, won two prizes at BIAF2019.
 
The BIAF Honorary Award for director Lee Sunggang is going to be given to him at Opening ceremony on October 21. 2022.
 
His latest short <Shape of wind>, which was selected for the Short film category of International Competition has world premiere at BIAF2022.
